Mackey challenges Troy University graduates to invest in themselves, give back
Alabama State Superintendent of Education Dr. Eric Mackey challenged Troy University graduates on Friday to consider two questions – what will they take in life and what will they give?
I hope you remember this day as the beginning of new opportunities, the opening of wider vistas. Today is just the beginning of new and wider opportunities in your life as you graduate from this esteemed institution.

Leader of Vietnamese partner university awarded the honorary Doctor of Laws during Summer Commencement
The number of Troy University Vietnamese graduates grew by one at Summer Commencement when the honorary Doctor of Laws degree was awarded to the chairman of the Vietnam National University’s University of Economics and Business.
Dr. Nguyen Truc Le, visiting the United States and his partner universities, said he was humbled by the award.
Today, I am honored to accept this honorary doctorate from Troy University, a top-quality public university in Alabama. This recognition reflects TROY’s appreciation for the VNU-UEB leaders, educators, and me, and celebrates our two universities’ successful 20-year partnership in joint training programs for Vietnam’s students.

Campers hold mock election, write to City Council at Civic Heroes Camp
Troy University’s Elm Street Gym was packed with activity and excitement during the fourth annual Civic Heroes Camp hosted by the Office of Civic Engagement held from July 17-21.
At Civic Heroes Camp, campers become superheroes-in-training and build their own communities, run their cities and help their neighbors. Campers also participate in creative games, activities and civic lessons that teach about government and what it means to be a good citizen. The campers were visited by a new community hero each day, including a police officer, a veterinarian, City of Troy Parks and Recreation Director Dan Smith and Jedidiah Bush, a seventh-grade civics teacher at Charles Henderson Middle School.

Troy Graduate Overcomes Obstacles to earn Master's
Meagan Gorsuch was born legally deaf and blind. She has never let that slow her down. On Friday, Meagan walked across the stage earning her master's degree from TROY. Now, she wants to help others like her.
