Figliano named Dean of College of Education at Troy University
Dr. Fred Figliano has been named Dean of Troy University’s College of Education.
The announcement was made by Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, during Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting. Dr. Figliano has served as interim dean of the college since June 2023.
I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead the College of Education. We have incredible faculty and staff who are passionate about serving our students and making a difference in their lives. I am confident that, as a team, we will continue to set the standard for excellence and achieve even greater success in the future.

TROY design students win 27 awards in annual ADDY competition
Troy University design students won top honors at this year’s Montgomery and Dothan American Advertising Federation (ADDY) student competitions, including fourteen Silver, eight Golds, two Judges Choice, two Best of Show and the coveted Student Designer of the Year Award in Montgomery.
Studio 207 wins second annual Troy University IDEA Bank Marketing Competition
Troy University student business owners received a crash course in marketing during the second IDEA Bank Marketing Competition held from Feb. 19-23.
Different from the IDEA Bank’s usual programs, the marketing competition focuses on established small business owners who need help developing a marketing strategy.
Gilroy brings message of encouragement, hope to Helen Keller Lecture
Troy University alumnus and motivational speaker Danny Gilroy encouraged those attending this year’s Helen Keller Lecture on the Troy Campus to shake off what paralyzes them and use what they have to bring hope to those around them.
When we allow the paralyses in our life – whatever it is – to paralyze us, we get busy dying. But, when we look at that paralyses or we look at that giant and we say, ‘I’m going to use what I’ve got,’ that is when we get busy living. And we were meant to live.
