ANF, former School of Nursing leaders join forces to endow DNP scholarships
A newly endowed scholarship will provide support to Doctor of Nursing Practice students to support health care in Alabama.
The Riley, Hamilton and Alabama Nurses Foundation Endowed Scholarship combines the previously non-endowed Dr. Brenda Riley Endowed Scholarship and combines it with gifts from the Alabama Nurses Foundation and Dr. Bernita Hamilton, a past professor of nursing and former director of the School of Nursing who now serves as an adjunct faculty member in the School’s Master of Science in Nursing Program.
The combined scholarship is now endowed with $50,000 and will focus first on supporting DNP students.
Young Leaders of East Alabama descend on Troy Campus for leadership training, fun
The Young Leaders of East Alabama is a leadership development academy developed for school-aged students that are in the 10th-11th grade. This academy was developed under the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Troy University Phenix City campus. It is an intense 10-month program that began on June 6, with new student orientation. This year’s class consists of 10 hand-selected students from Central, Russell County, and Smiths Station high schools.
On June 20, the 10 students, along with their three chaperones, loaded onto a bus for Troy University in Troy for three days. While on campus, the students took part in a variety of seminars and activities.

Students take on Comicamp
During the summer, Troy University has many different summer camps that come through the area. The Department of Theatre and Dance is hosting the third annual Summer Spotlight Comi-Camp for young leaders. During the camp, students learn to express themselves through art and design.
Troy's Downtown Square is Full
Downtown Troy has become home to many local events and several businesses. Every store window you see is now full. It's an accomplishment that Troy's mayor says has been years in the making.
