Hawkins announces 2025 retirement as Troy University Chancellor
Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., who has served as Troy University Chancellor for more than 35 years during a period of unprecedented growth, has announced his retirement effective Oct. 1, 2025.
Dr. Hawkins announced his retirement date in an email to faculty and staff on Tuesday.
Troy University Police Department gets grants aimed at making campus, officers safer
A $150,000 grant to the Troy University Police Department will result in safer surroundings on the Troy Campus.
Provided through the U.S. Dept. of Justice, the money will be used to add CCTV cameras at Veterans Memorial Stadium, purchase a mobile camera trailer for additional coverage during University events, and enhance the personal safety equipment for TPD officers.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon as TROY salutes our nation’s veterans and presents the U.S. premiere of "Beyond a War."
This powerful documentary short film explores the remarkable journey of reconciliation between Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., and Dr. Lê Công Cơ—former enemies during the Vietnam War who now lead universities committed to a brighter future.
The event features TROY ensemble POPulus, remarks from Medal of Honor Recipient Capt. Gary Michael Rose (USA Ret.), and a special veterans recognition.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged.
