University Honors Convocation to be held April 21
Troy University will recognize excellence, achievement and service across the university community during its annual Honors Convocation at 2:30 pm. on April 21 in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.
The ceremony will recognize students who have earned prestigious awards for outstanding scholarship and service from their departments in the University’s five colleges and will acknowledge students inducted into prestigious honor societies over the last academic year.
Among awards to be presented during the convocation are the Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching, presented to an outstanding faculty member, and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Awards, given to a senior male and female student and to a distinguished faculty or staff member.
Author Jennifer Horne to receive TROY’s Hall-Waters Prize on April 25
Award-winning poet and nonfiction author Jennifer Horne, a native of Little Rock, Ark., will receive Troy University’s Hall-Waters Prize on April 25.
Horne, who served as the Poet Laureate of Alabama from 2017 to 2021, will read selections from her recent biography, “Odyssey of a Wandering Mind: The Strange Tale of Sara Mayfield, Author” (2023), and her poetry at 9:30 a.m. in the Lamar P. Higgins Ballrooms in the Trojan Center on the Troy Campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
Troy University’s Inaugural Counseling Residency: A Success for Group Counseling Students
Troy University recently hosted its first-ever residency for group counseling graduate students, marking an important milestone for the university’s online counseling program. The residency, which took place from March 7-9 during Term 3 of this year, brought together approximately 115 students from across the country for an in-person experience focused on the group counseling process.
The residency was held at Troy University’s Dothan Campus and offered students a unique opportunity to engage in practical learning experiences.
TROY, VNU graduate thriving in international career
Le Dao Hanh Trang, a 2024 cum laude graduate from Troy University’s Bachelor of International Affiliated Business Administration program at the University of Economics & Business – Vietnam National University (VNU-UEB) in Hanoi, has used the skills the program gave her to pursue a career in a dynamic field.
A shopping concierge at the Changi International Airport in Singapore, Le Dao said the knowledge she gained in customer behavior, marketing and how to effectively communicate has been instrumental in her current role.
