Carter receives Troy University’s Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching
Dr. Ronda F. Carter, Lecturer in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, is the recipient of Troy University’s 2025 Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching.
Dr. Carter received the award from TROY Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academics Dr. Kerry Palmer during the University’s annual Honors Convocation held Monday afternoon in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy Campus.
The Ingalls Award is given annually to the teacher on the Troy Campus who has “most diligently, effectively and cheerfully conducted his or her classes during the current academic year.” Students nominate faculty members for the award, and a committee of students and faculty advisors selects the recipient.
Three honored with Sullivan Awards at Troy University
Troy University has honored two students and a member of the University’s staff with the 2025 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Awards.
Maggie Chapman, a senior Social Work major from Chelsea, Derrick Nobles, a senior Accounting major from Mobile, and Juliana Bolivar, Director of the Small Business Development Center at TROY, received the Sullivan Awards during a luncheon in their honor on Monday at the Troy Campus. The recipients were also honored during the University’s annual Honors Convocation Monday afternoon.
The Sullivan Award, which is presented at select colleges and universities throughout the United States, recognizes recipients for their excellence of character, humanitarian service and spiritual qualities. The award has been presented annually to a male student, a female student and one non-student at TROY since 1981.
Cole to lead Troy University’s John W. Schmidt Center for Student Success
Lauren S. Cole has been named Executive Director of Troy University’s John W. Schmidt (JWS) Center for Student Success.
The JWS center provides programs and services that enhance Troy University students’ academic achievement, personal and social growth, campus and civic engagement, career development and persistence to graduation.
Rosser-Mims receives East Alabama Chamber’s Community Champion Award
Dr. Dionne Rosser-Mims, Vice Chancellor of Troy University’s Phenix City Campus, has been honored with the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce’s Community Champion Award.
The award was presented during the Chamber’s annual dinner on April 8 at the Bibb Mill Event Center in Columbus, GA.
The Community Champion Award honors a business, individual or organization dedicated to strengthening the community through service, leadership and philanthropy.
Sorrell professor provides expert testimony on occupational licensure to the Texas Legislature
A Sorrell College of Business professor’s research into state licensing regulations has led him to the Texas Legislature.
Dr. Noah Trudeau, an assistant professor of Decision Systems and Sciences, was called on to provide expert testimony on several licensure measures – most notably one sponsored by former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dade Phelan.
His testimony is an outcropping of research in and the development of the State Occupational Licensing Index – SOLI, for short – under the Archbridge Institute.
