TROY to pay tribute to military during Nov. 12 football game against Army
Troy University will pay tribute to the nation’s military on Nov. 12 as it welcomes the Army Black Knights to Veterans Memorial Stadium for the Military Appreciation Game. Kickoff for the game is set for 2:30 p.m.
TROY has a long history of service to the military and has designated one home football game as its Military Appreciation Game each year since 2000.
Retired Army Staff Sgt. Luke Murphy to deliver Helen Keller Lecture at Troy University
Retired Army Staff Sgt. Luke Murphy, who was catastrophically wounded by an improvised explosive device in 2006 during his second tour of duty in Iraq, will bring his message of overcoming adversity to Troy University on Nov. 10 as a part of the University’s Helen Keller Lecture Series.
TROY honors military families during National Veterans and Military Families Month in November, waives application fees for the month
National Veterans and Military Families Month is in November, and TROY is remembering the sacrifices that everybody associated with the military has made.
During the entire month, service families can apply to TROY free of charge, which is just a small way that they can be honored.
Federal grant will aid Troy University in training, placing Community Health Workers
A $3 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will enable Troy University’s College of Health and Human Services to develop and administer a certificate program to train Community Health Workers.
The three-year grant will be administered through the University’s School of Nursing and School of Social Work and Human Services and will train and place Community Health Workers in underserved areas within the state to help educate and direct residents to available services.
Exhibit at TROY’s Rosa Parks Museum features work from River Region artists
An exhibit of works by artists from the River Region is on display in the gallery at Troy University’s Rosa Parks Museum through Dec. 10.
“Art of the River Region” highlights the work of current River Region residents such as Nathanial Allen, Alisa Beck, Madeline Burkhardt, Maalik Camp, Alana Enfinity, Sueann Gomez, Patricia Hackett, Keith J.R. Hollingsworth, Rebecca Olson, Jayla Poe, J. Felton Powell, Ashley Redic, Korey Rowswell, Tara Sartorius, Ciera Simone, Mary Soylu, Toni Toney and Cleve Webber.

Balancing Mental Health
The end of the semester is going to be here before we know it and for many that brings the stress of final exams. However, that could be just one element affecting a student's mental wellness. Earlier this week, students were offered a way to balance their mental health.

Troy University’s literary journal, the Rubicon, is hosting a reading of creative work submitted by student writers on November 2nd, and as producer Brittany Wyatt tells us, this is the first time the Rubicon will be read live and out loud to an audience.
And every Halloween at TROY Public Radio, we listen to true, scary stories in a dark studio, compliments of the Spooked Podcast from Snap Judgment. And we’re not the first; the tradition of horror on the radio goes back a long time, as Producer Jaelanne Thomas reports.
