TROY names new Director for John M. Long School of Music
Dr. Hui-Ting Yang has been named the Director of Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music.
She moves into the role that was previously held by Dr. Larry Blocher, who held the position for 17 years before retiring in July 2022.
Yang joined the University in 2007 as a lecturer of piano and served as Interim Director for the School of Music from 2022 to July 2024.
TROY names Suero as Chair of World Languages and Cultures Department
Troy University named Dr. Kelly Suero as the Chair for the World Languages and Cultures Department in August 2024.
Suero joined the department in August 2014 and moved into the role that was previously held by Dr. Peter Howard, who retired after teaching at TROY for 50 years.
Annual J-Day showcases TROY’s journalism and communication program
The Hall School of Journalism and Communication held its annual J-Day event on Wednesday, where over 200 high school students from Alabama and Florida flocked to campus.
Groups of students listened into presentations from Troy University faculty, staff, students and alumni over the course of the morning.
TROY Department of Theatre and Dance kick off 2024-2025 production season
Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present, “Art in Motion: Twisted Tales,” beginning October 10 through October 13 in the Trojan Center Theatre. This will mark the start of the 2024-2025 production season for the department.
“Art in Motion,” is an annual student-led production that encourages collaboration between the art of dance and other art forms. This year’s production will feature classic fables, folktales and fairytales, all with a twist.
Danyal Jones receives Troy University’s Vergil Parks McKinley Award
Danyal Jones, Title III Project Coordinator for the Troy University Montgomery’s Center for Student Success, has won the University’s Vergil Parks McKinley Award.
Jones, who has been employed by the University for more than three years, received the award from Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, during a ceremony at the Troy Campus.

Historian and archivist Dr. Marty Olliff is the Director of the Wiregrass Archives at Troy University’s Dothan Campus. Like other archivists, he seeks to identify, preserve, and make available the records of the local community. Those records inform community formation and preserve the corporate or institutional memory that typically walks out the door when an archivist is missing.
