Gift of Exergen thermometers will aid students in TROY’s School of Nursing
Troy University nursing students will soon benefit from the gift of more than $40,000 worth of Exergen thermometers that will aid them in their studies and laboratory work.
Dr. Shellye Vardaman, Professor in TROY’s School of Nursing who procured the donation, said the School of Nursing received TAT-2000C SmartGlow home thermometers for every current pre-licensure undergraduate ASN and BSN student and 20 TAT-5000 professional thermometers, valued at $475 each, for use in the simulation and skills laboratories. The donation was valued at $40,300.
Design students’ music videos become official selections at UNA George Lindsey Film Festival
Troy University graphic design students Nathan Hobbs, Cole Patterson and Howard Purvee have had their music videos selected as Official Selections in the 2023 UNA George Lindsey Film Festival.
Hobbs and Purvee’s “Killer Queen” won Best Music Video in the College Division and Patterson’s “Just Sign The Papers” was a runner-up in the YellowHammer Film Festival held in December, and Killer Queen was also recently awarded a Gold Addy in the annual American Advertising Federation Competition.
Both films were created in design professor Chris Stagl’s “user experience” class over the past year.
‘Americans and the Holocaust’ traveling exhibition coming to Troy University Library
Troy University’s Troy Campus Library is one of 50 U.S. libraries selected to host Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum that examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s.
The touring library exhibition — based on the special exhibition of the same name at the Museum in Washington, D.C. — will be on display March 20 – April 24 with an Opening Reception and Lecture being held at 5 p.m. on March 22.
TROY Bass Fishing Team signs three high school anglers to its team
Troy University’s Bass Fishing Team has signed three high school fishermen to its ranks.
Signing with the team before a crowd of about 100 were Avery Padgett, of Elba, Ethan Young, of Jack – both from Zion Chapel High School – and Kasen Pemberton of Chipley, FL.
The trio will join current team members next year in traveling across the country, fishing in up to 20 collegiate bass tournaments. Those tournaments, head coach Evan Rice said, can consist of up to 550 collegiate anglers representing as many as 200 universities and colleges on the Association of Collegiate Anglers’ Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, where the team currently holds the 88th place.
Trojan Day set to showcase Troy University to prospective students
On March 25, Troy University will host the Spring 2023 Trojan Day, an event that allows prospective TROY students and their families experience some of what TROY has to offer.
Trojan Day is a day for students to see what it may be like as a TROY student.
