Don Jeffrey remembered for his impact and support and encouragement of others
Troy University is mourning the passing of former beloved administrator Dr. Don Jeffrey.
Dr. Jeffrey, who retired from the University in 2023 after 46 years of service, passed away on Jan. 28. He was 78.
Dr. Jeffrey earned his bachelor’s degree from TROY, a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and his Ph.D. from Florida State University. He began his teaching career in 1975 at Samson High School before joining the TROY faculty.
During his 46 years of service at Troy University, Dr. Jeffrey served as a faculty member, director of aquatics, chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion and Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. He also served interim roles as Dean of the College of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Communication and Fine Arts.
Dr. Don Jeffrey is and shall remain an icon at Troy University. Throughout my tenure at TROY, I can remember no one who had a greater effect on the institution or on me personally.

Carr School students expand networks during Meet the Firms day in Stadium Club
Troy University accounting students networked with many firms at the annual Meet the Firms event held by the William H. Carr School of Accountancy.
Students and employers met at the Stadium Towers Wednesday afternoon for an opportunity to seek out connections and internships.
Senator Britt’s Field Representative Visits TROY to See Grant-Funded Equipment
Senator Katie Britt’s Field Representative, Melanie Hill, visited Troy University to tour the Center for Materials and Manufacturing Sciences and Jones Hall, the new home of the College of Health Sciences. The visit highlighted the impact of these resources on research, education, and workforce development.
TROY Theatre and Dance to open dance concert “Tempo” Feb. 13
Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present its spring dance concert “Tempo” Feb. 13-16 and Feb. 20-23 at the Trojan Center Theatre.
The production, directed by James L. Boyd III, will feature new and original choreography by guest artists and TROY Dance alumni and faculty.
