Eleven TROY student films to be showcased at Alabama Film Week
On April 20, 11 Troy University student short films will be featured in Birmingham at Sidewalk’s annual “Alabama Film Week” event that calls attention to films made in or by Alabama filmmakers.
Specifically, this session of films highlights the creative works of TROY students who have seen success at the University’s YellowHammer Film Festival.

In the heart of the Wiregrass, Mia Scott’s Dothan-based Mt. Moriah Farms exemplifies the dedication to quality in its family-owned farming business, specializing in goat-based products.
Juliana Bolivar, Director of the Alabama Small Business Development Center at Troy University, swiftly identified the need for Mt. Moriah Farms to establish a unique identity. She envisioned a brand that stood out not only visually but also in how it communicated its value to customers.
Students learn from guest artists during TROY’s annual Clarinet Day
Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music gave students from across the southeast the opportunity to learn from world-renowned guest artists and clinicians during the 17th annual Clarinet Day held March 23.
The day-long event featured multiple recitals, clarinet choir rehearsals and clinics from the guest artists, including Alexander Fiterstein from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, Helen Goode-Castro from Cal-State Long Beach, David Gould from Vandoren USA in New York City, Pamela Shuler from Eastern New Mexico University and Katrina Phillips of Alabama State University. Dylan Thompson of MRW Artisan Instruments also brought new clarinets and accessories for the students to try and buy.

Women’s Basketball makes history in WNIT
Following a 19 and 11 overall record this season, TROY women's basketball accepted an invitation to participate in the WNIT as the Trojans earned a first-round bye, which led to the second-round matchup that took place Monday night.

Comedians don’t usually headline the International Arts Center, but currently there’s an exhibit on display that might make you think they do.
The artist, Winfred Hawkins, blends dark humor with digital art and works on canvas. TROY Public Radio’s Chris Ahlf paints the full picture.
And, bird is the word this week! Thanks to restoration efforts at the arboretum, more than eight miles of trails have been cleared out, an outdoor classroom has been installed, and two new bridges have been built. And that’s just pecking the surface, as Producer Brendan Bryan reports.

Recently Kyle Gassiott, Troy Public Radio Director, paid a visit to Gee’s Bend in Wilcox County, Alabama, to talk with quilter Mary Ann Pettway about the community’s unique and artistic quilts, which are displayed all over the world. In observance of Women’s History Month, Kyle shared the highlights of his visit with Carolyn Hutcheson of In Focus and also posted photos on TPR’s Facebook page and Instagram. Mary Ann Pettway heads the Gee’s Bend Quilters Collective.
