Summer Commencement features alumnus, Troy Mayor Jason Reeves as keynote speaker
Alumnus, former SGA President and Troy Mayor Jason Reeves will provide the keynote address at Troy University’s summer commencement exercises on July 29 in Trojan Arena.
More than 500 students from 28 U.S. states, one territory and the District of Columbia, and nine countries outside the United States will participate in Summer Commencement, which begins at 10 a.m.
Summer Garden Program creates relationship between local children, TROY and healthy habits
Students at the Pike County Boys & Girls Club spent part of their summer break planting seeds, experimenting with celery stalks and learning about nutrition with Troy University’s Office of Civic Engagement.
One afternoon a week from June 7 to July 13, student volunteers, AmeriCorps VISTAs and Lauren Cochran, coordinator of Civic Engagement, spent a few hours teaching children the basics of gardening and providing hands-on activities that got their hands dirty.
Entrepreneurship Summer Camp teaches basics of business, awards TROY scholarship to competition winner
Six high school students spent a week at the IDEA Bank’s first Entrepreneurship Summer Camp to learn the basics of business planning. The event culminated in a business plan competition with the winner receiving a $2,000 scholarship to Troy University.
Learning and fun meld for kids in Summer Spotlight camps
Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance hosted nearly 50 kids from June 27-July 1 for the first round of Summer Spotlight camps designed to introduce children and teens to all aspects of the world of the fine arts.
The Creative Drama “Mini Spotlighters” half-day camp for ages 4-7 immersed kids in a Barnyard Bash where they learned how crops grow, how farm equipment works, how food gets from the fields to the grocery store and more.
Eason joins Troy University Development team
Troy University alumnus John Robert Eason has joined the TROY Office of Development as Director of Development for the College of Health and Human Services and Regional Director.
