Troy University names Collegeview Building in memory of alumnus Bennie Adkins
Troy University’s Board of Trustees voted to rename the Collegeview Building on the Troy Campus to honor the memory of TROY alumnus and Medal of Honor recipient Bennie G. Adkins.
The Collegeview Building is currently home to programs in the College of Health and Human Services. However, those programs will soon be relocating to the new Jones Hall Center for Health Sciences when it opens later this year. Bennie G. Adkins Hall will then become home to the Army and Air Force ROTC programs and the Troy University Police Department.
Troy University arboretum added to Alabama Birding Trails
Troy University’s arboretum is home to 75 acres, over eight miles of walking trails and a Champion Tree, and now it’s officially listed as a designated stop on the Alabama Birding Trails.
The Alabama Birding Trails highlight the best public locations for watching birds year-round in Alabama across eight geographic regions and over 280 stops— North Alabama, West Alabama, Appalachian Highlands, Piedmont Plateau, Black Belt Nature and Heritage, Pineywoods, Wiregrass and Alabama Coastal Birding Trail. The arboretum stop is included in the Wiregrass region and is only the second site in Pike County to make the list.
TROY Alumni Association charters Alpha Tau Omega Alumni Chapter
The Troy University Alumni Association officially chartered its 68th alumni chapter on March 4 as it welcomed the Alpha Tau Omega Alumni Chapter.
The Kappa Beta Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity was founded at TROY in 2005 and has since garnered national attention through its annual Walk Hard event. The chapter also has the nation’s longest consecutive streak winning the fraternity’s prestigious True Merit Award.
